Sonic is my only competing at the moment. I am still competing with Sizzle at some UKA and FAB shows where he can jump lower height (Toy/Micro). I also run him at KC Open shows at odd occasion. He has never have a great stamina to do more than 3 runs a day and definitely not a full day of a training day. He still enjoy a bit of agility but most of all he loves to be a farm dog :)
Recap on Sonic after KCI. After failing to get him qualified for Novice Cup at Crufts 2015, he went on to have the three wins that he needed to go Grade 6 in a row. He was on fire at KCI. People who knew him knows how happy I was. Sonic's nickname Mr Gobby! I can't believe he actually ran clear and not just once but most of the runs at KCI, the biggest KC show in the UK. I was over the moon with him.
He was then back to his gobby self at this first couple of Grade 6 shows. We didn't achieve what we need to achieve but all I can say I love running this little dog although it can be frustrated at times! He did win an Agility (Combined 6-7) and a Jumping (Graded 4-7) towards his Grade 7 in the beginning of September at Agility Nuts show. The following weekend at Southam show, at his first run, he sadly got badly injured. Unfortunately it was really a bad one. He came down so fast on his DW and he was on 3 legs. I didn't know why and I can't see anything on the video. After a few hours rest, I tried to run him on another course, he lifted the same leg again. I knew I need to take him to the vet. Sonic is like his daddy, tough and strong little dog, never show sign of discomfort unless it's really bad. I was really upset about it. The vet needed to sedate him for an x-Ray. Vet thought it was a swelling soft tissue injury (on his left back leg around the hock area), vet prescribed rest. I then took him to see our physio Maria Johnston. Maria found his bicep was sore and prescribed 6-8 weeks strict rest. Thing didn't improved, in fact he was lifting his leg again that worried me. I asked the vet for second opinion. The x-Ray was sent to the head vet and I was called in to have him check up by the head vet and a discussion. The head vet found he has superficial digital tendon luxation! After much discussion, he advice to have Sonic operated and fixed the tendon. Again, I was lost with the new information. I asked to see Maria again for a further discussion. Maria disagreed to what the head vet found and so do I. So, I hang on to the operation. My guys were due to see our Chiropractor Emma Fretwell. She found other problem but none of my physio or chiro has picked up the superficial digital tendon luxation, so I put that aside and concentrate on treating him with Maria and Emma. He was looking much better in December after No training, No running around, No herding ...
Our Grade 7 dream was on hold after he got injured. Our first show back after his injury was Rugby Christmas Show in mid December. He was doing very well. Sadly a drop pole in the Jumping round and he was 4 seconds faster than the winner. In the Agility round, he was brilliant again, he was leading until the end, a dog come in to knock him off the first place! I was really happy with him coming back so well. We went to Adams Agility Show after Christmas. We have silly mistakes in every single run! This last weekend, we went to another Adams Agility Show. His first three runs were full of eliminations but he did some good work, it was me that letting him down. He did win his last run though, with my late command and standing in a wrong place, so we have a messy clear. He needs another win, either a Jumping or Agility to take him Grade 7.
The weather has been rather disastrous here, high wind has destroyed my AF and DW. I need to get them fixed!
